Many see the US as a place that celebrates the value of free speech for all faiths, especially for Christian. Yet that assumption may be misleading. Holly McClure on LoveWorld USA News highlighted a major insult to Vice President Mike Pence’s Christian belief on the ABC show The View. What the entire News episode now.
A form of Christian persecution happens right here in America on television it’s just disguised in other forms. This week the ladies on The View mocked Vice President Mike Pence’s Christian faith saying they don’t want a leader that “speaks in tongues” or “reportedly hears the voice of Jesus”; which Joe Bearheart said was tantamount to mental illness. Co-host Sunny Hostin remarked that although she’s a faithful person [it’s not the same as a faith person], and Catholic, she is uncomfortable with Pence putting a “religious veneer” on things.
Joy Behar chimed in: “it’s one thing to talk to Jesus, it’s another thing when Jesus talks to you, that’s called mental illness, and if I’m correct hearing voices. My question is can he talk to Mary Magdalene without his wife in the room”
Behar joked making a reference to the now widely known fact that pence does not dine along with women or consume alcohol at events without his wife present. For which he was mocked in the secular press last year.
Mike Pence responded to the indictment even though he says he’s accustom to criticism and wanted to just laugh about it, however, he said he feels he cannot let this one go:
Mike Pence: “Overwhelming majority of Americans cherish their faith, and we have all different types of faith in this country. But have ABC maintain a broadcast forum that compared Christianity to mental illness it’s just wrong”. “My Christianity is the most important thing in my life…my faith sustains me and all that I do”. “It’s just wrong for ABC to have a television program that expresses that kind of religious intolerance”.
God bless Mike Pence as he stands for what is right, and as he stands for Christians everywhere. Not many people are doing that these days. This has become the norm for many media personalities to attack outspoken Christians in their faith. We need to pray for our politicians that are on the front lines speaking up for our freedoms every day.
