Billy Graham’s Funeral

Last Friday Billy Graham, America’s Pastor, was laid to rest in a canvas cathedral next to his beloved wife Ruth the grounds of his ministry. It was called his last crusade, as a testimony to his ministry. President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence also attended. Michael W. Smith and many other musicians, who shared the stage with Graham’s crusades over the years, sang beautiful tributes. 2,300 people gathered to pay tribute under the tent, with 500 countries represented. Millions more watched the ceremony on television, including on LoveWorld.

Billy Graham chose a simple phrase for his tombstone that says: Billy Graham, preacher of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, accompanied by a single verse:

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6)

When asked how Billy Graham wanted people to remember him he said:

“My legacy I think will just be in the hearts of the people, I don’t think it will be some building or some organization or place where my name is prominent. I think it’s going to be in the hearts of the people whose lives have been touched or changed as a result of the gospel that we were able to share and proclaim. God will raise a different evangelist who will do it far better.”

A beautiful Billy Graham quote about going to heaven:

“I’m going to heaven not on my good works or because I’ve preached to all these people, or read the Bible. I’m going to heaven because of what Christ did on the cross”.

Profound words from a humble man of God.

In 1989, our Pastor Benny received a word from God about Billy Graham? On July 19th, 2012 on an episode of praise the Lord on TBN, Pastor Benny Hinn declared that the sign of revival would be the death of evangelist Billy Graham. As the men on stage spoke of the coming revival, Hinn spoke up and declared that there will be a sign and that the sign will be Billy Graham’s death.

Wake up church! Pastor Benny said it’s time for a revival, get ready. The time is drawing near. Technology can reach all over the world now. So now is the time to be bold and share the gospel of Jesus Christ. The good news for a world that desperately needs it. That’s what we’re doing on LoveWorld every day.

Billy Graham was beloved by both Christian and non-Christians, admired by those who love Jesus and those who’ve rejected Him. Graham’s impact on modern global Christianity is unheralded. His life calling was on of simple obedience. He would always say this at the end of every crusade:

“If you remember nothing else I’ve said tonight, remember this, God loves you!”

His message was simple and direct:

“That Jesus came, He died on a cross, He rose again, and He asked us to repent of our sins and receive Him by faith as Lord and Savior, and if we do, we have forgiveness of all of our sins.”

God bless Billy Graham!
