On Sunday, worshipers in Cuba remembered at least 20 Evangelicals who were among the 110 victims of Friday’s plane crash just outside of Havana. Among the crash victims were members of the Church of the Nazarene who were returning after participating in a church retreat for married couples.
On Sunday local disciples gathered to commemorate the lives lost in the accident. Leading figures in the Evangelical church were pastors, representing a growing Evangelical movement on the Island. Worshippers attended the service praying for and remembering their contributions to the church which they say is rapidly growing in the country in part spurred by the efforts of the pastors like those that were lost in the plane crash.
The League of Evangelicals of Cuba, representing 70 denominations around the Island, also celebrated a service to pay homage to the victims at the Church of the Nazarene. Worshippers clutch pictures at the visiting pastors who died on the flight. They were crying and praying for the lost couples, all married and according to a church member, leaving behind many children. Pray for those children.
