National sports and the pride we have for our athletes is a way to praise the Lord. Celebrating the success of what a human body and brain are capable of is a testament to how glorious and great God truly is. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome speaks greatly about Christ’s approach to community and how each individual should contribute to society to praise God. In a recent LoveWorld USA News segment, Holly McClure praises the President of the United States, Donald Trump, for his willingness to make time in his busy schedule to celebrate an outstanding American athlete.
Before a crowd in the South Lawn of the White House, President Donald Trump welcomed 2017 NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto) Cup series champion Martin Truex Jr. to the White House and congratulated him for a truly incredible season.
President Donald Trump:
“What they did was truly incredible, it was an incredible season. The entire NASCAR field spent 2017 chasing 78. I’ll tell you they chase them, I’d be watching they’re always chasing you. You won eight races including four wins in the NASCAR playoffs. Throughout the season you won 19 top-five finishes and led more than 2,000 laps. Does it get lonely being in front? Not at all, never, right?”
The President notes that Truex’s team bonded through tragedy including the death of team member Jim Watson and Truex’s girlfriend Sherry Pollex’s battle with ovarian cancer.
Martin Truex Jr.:
“I’m really proud to be here today to represent the sport, to represent our millions of fans out there across the world”
President Trump praised NASCAR fans and supporters for their patriotism noting that they stand for the national anthem before races, like. Got to love how he pointed that out.
